Garmin's Vista C is the ultimate handheld GPS unit for backpackers,
hunters and hikers, with its lightweight design, just 5.6oz.(with
batteries), electronic compass, barometric altimeter, and 256 Color TFT
display. The electronic compass will give you accurate heading
information while standing and the barometric altimeter will provide
local pressure and a 48-hour automatic pressure-trend recorder. The
Vista Color also features an elevation computer providing current
elevation, ascent/descent rate, minimum/maximum elevation, and total
ascent and descent. The Vista Color has a 12-channel WAAS internal
patch antenna for up to 3-meter accuracy.* The Vista C includes the
routable Americas Recreational basemap,
including major highways, interstates and bigger lakes and rivers and
will also accept up to 24 megabytes of downloaded map data from
Garmin's line of optional MapSource CD-ROMs including
topographic detail, residential street information and points of
interest such as restaurants, lodging and attractions. Just add the
Mapsource City Select North America software or the Auto Navigation kit
and you will be able to get visual turn-by-turn guidance on this tiny
wonder.
Included with the Vista C is a USB interface cable, so map downloads
are much faster than traditional handheld GPS. Garmin has improved the
battery life for up to 20 hours of use on 2 AA batteries and also added
audible alarms for off-course, proximity waypoints, and anchor drag.
The operation of the Vista Color could not be any easier as Garmin has
updated their operating system to make it easy for everyone to use for
hiking, biking, Geocaching, or getting you to you favorite fishing
holes. Other features include: storage for 500 waypoints with symbol,
10,000 tracklog points, stopwatch, hunting/fishing calendar, and trip
computer. Please note that the Garmin e-Trex Vista C is not NMEA
compatible.
